If you're talking about the number pi, THAT'S equal to approximately 3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510.

Pi is NOT equal to 22 divided by 7 as someone pointed out. It is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter ( or twice its radius ). In any case, the number is irrational and continues without bounds beyond the decimal place. In any case, pi is approximately equal to 3.141592...There are only approximations of this number and there is NO actual value.

Pi is always an approximation when written, since the number is "irrational", meaning that the numbers after the decimal point go on forever. To state it exactly, you can't use numbers. However, 3.1415926 is a good approximation. Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter

Assuming you do mean π - there's no easy way to write it down, which is why we just have a special symbol for it. π is one of the so-called "transcendental" numbers. Many irrational numbers can be written in terms of algebraic equations with rational coefficients; for instance, the square root of 2 can be understood as the positive solution of the equation x^2 = 2. However, transcendental numbers can't even be written like this.

There are many series forms for approximating π, which you may find interesting. That is, π is written as a sum of infinitely many terms, which hopefully converge fairly quickly (that is, the total quickly becomes close to the true value of π). For those, and much more information about π, I can do no better than to direct you to the Wikipedia Pi page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi.

Pi (no longer pie) is a limiteless, non repeating variety. So the decimal places bypass out to infinity and there is no repeating sequence interior the numbers. Kinda frightening eh? maximum individuals use in basic terms as much as three signifant digits. (and congrats to Radio above. That the main giggling i've got ever had examining a yahoo answer!)

A "pie" is a shallow round confection, consisting of flour-based dough (usually), filled with fruit and/or nuts and (usually) baked.

There is no actual (finite) number for "pi" (the Greek letter) that represents the relationship between a circle's diameter and its circumference.

Supercomputers have attempted to calculate pi, but it goes on and on (kinda like the Universe).

Umm, I don't know the entire number but in school we learned that pie is equal to 3.14 because we needed to get the circumference of a circle.....so yeah

True, pi is an irrational number, meaning it never ends. However, it is exactly equal to the circumference of a circle divided by the diameter. Additionally, pi is equal to the area of a circle divided by its radius squared.
