If I were going to live somewhere in Southern California because I wanted to get into acting, where would be a good, safe, and affordable place to live (area/city wise) that is somewhat close to the studios?

No where is affordable on the south coast of California.
But San Diego is a great place, if you can stand the traffic to LA.

Wow! Haven't you been watching the movies? There is NO safe or cheap place to live in southern California.. good thing too.. or we would not get all those great struggle of life movies from there!...
