I think that personally that might be weird since a lot of 10th graders will be driving and the 8th graders will be a year or 2 away from a permit even. I am in 8th grade and that would basically dating one of my sisters friends and that is just too old.

I don't think an 8th grader should be dating anyone, and a 10th grader shouldn't unless they're very mature. Im guessing neither of them drive, so I would hardly call being driven by your parents "dating". Also, high school relationships don't last long so it doesn't matter that much anyway.

I wouldn't let my 10th grader date an 8th grader or vice versa! 10th grade is usually 15 and 8th is usually 13. BIG difference at that age between the two.

To grown adults.........two years or three years different in age is not a big deal at all. BUT to kids still growing and learning........two years is a HUGE gap. Not a good idea. It shows that a 10th grader is so immature that they cannot attract people their own age and have to go the the junior high school for peer groups.

No, I don't think it's a good idea. There might be only two years difference but it's a big gap when you're talking about someone of thirteen, who still very much a child, and someone of fifteen and into high school. People of these ages have very different expectations of what a relationship means that might leave the younger person vulnerable to being pressured to doing things they aren't ready for.

Personally, as a tenth grader, i feel that the 10th grader must be a loser for him to go after 8th graders. Its obvious that he can't get anyone in high school so he goes down to the junior high level. He must be desperate.

If the 10th grader has to go down two grades to find a date, that seems a little suspect. I teach eighth graders and if I know they're dating high school kids, my biggest fear is that they're having sex.

I would find that a little weird. There's not a big age difference, but people change so fast once they've reached high school that it is like having a ten year difference. High school students are smoking drinking doing drugs and having sex. Although this starts in middle school they can't relate to high school kids and shouldn't. Let the middle schoolers keep their innocence for as long as possible.
