Historically, America has, and will continue to fight with someone over something. As with Iraq, our congress and senate were filled with lies to get us into a war. That was being planned for several months before 9/11. Wars are sometimes necessary to protect us and our way of life. Iraq was never a threat to our freedom or our way of life. Bin Laden was responsible for the attacks in New York, and Washington and the plane crash in Pennsylvania. Had it not been for the incredible bravery of the passengers on that plane, it could have crashed into the white house.
Americans have protested wars for a long time. However, the change in policy must from from the top, or from within government. Congress can cut off funds for a war, which can bring it to a stop. Rebelling against a government is akin to anarchy. There are ways to get the governments attention without getting too drastic.
War has always been the failure of politics and will continue to be so. Refusing to pay tax has long been a way to show dissatisfaction toward the government. During the '60s and '70s, many people refused to pay the federal exise tax on their phone bills. Nearly 100% of this month went to fund the war in Vietnam. In protest, phone customer refused to pay it. Since it wasn't part of a phone charge, their phones were never disconnected.
Your question is a complicated one and this forum doesn't have nearly enough space to devote to reasons why we go to war and what we can do to stop them. However, start by electing those who oppose certain wars. Americans in general are unhappy with the direction of the war in Iraq. Oh, and keep in mind, if you want a war, elect a republican.

If you look at history the US has spent more of it's history in peace vs war than most other countries. Many countries are into tribal mentality & get into many more wars. Yes we are big & strong. We got that way buy staying out of many wars. When we were draged into others wars we faught on their soil. Their infrastructure suffered while the US's grew.
If the Iraqis want the coalition out, the coalition needs to feel the local authorities have the area under control. Under control would be defined as peaceful & productive. Insighting a civil war doesn't get to that goal. It simply showed the insurgents don't have enough faith in their jihad to let the Iraqis create their own future.
The Iraqis need to show they have out grown the end of the movie Lawrance of Arabia. In that movie they showed they can fight with the best of them. Unfortunately it also showed their trible mentality in the end. They were more interested in their ego than working together so that they all prospered.

Obviously, the question should be "how many families." Now, with that said, it only takes one American family to start a war, but the entire nation to pay reparations in the form of lost loved ones. I compare the war to a Bush as a kid playing with those little green army men. He doesn't care how many he loses in the game. His daddy will buy him more. This war is like a bad Vegas marriage that we Americans can't get annulled. I'm still proud to say that I did not vote for the American idiot. Maybe it only takes one, huh.

Let's see 1 ill-spoken, spoonfed moron, 1 fat liar with bad aim, 1 gap toothed token black chick with an oil tanker named after her-
Put that group of crooks together with a national media to afraid to ask the right questions at the right time & you pretty much can bomb the hell out of one country even though you were attacked by their cozy buddies the Saudi's. Let's see... the 3 stooges listed above with all of their oil and defense company connections have made out like crooks and the world's largest contributers to terrorists, the Saudi's, have all made soooooooo much more money because of this war. What a huge, huge coincidence... The only way to change our path is to change our leaders, and make examples of those who have decided to profit from war.

Yes people can protest.
They are busy on YA b!tching about Bush!
If you don't pay taxes they have a cell for you.
When will you get over your defeatist ways?
But don't worry your Democratic Congress takes over tomorrow. Should be fun watching the veto pen!

Pretty easy for a sissy like you to ask questions while sitting at his key board. Are you an American, if so you're welcome for your rights to be an a s s hole. If you a foreigner your welcome for the freedom we gave you.
this is for little drummer boy
Wow drummer boy your cool. Angry, but cool. I bet you get a lot of chicks with that Mr. Sensitivity
Routine of yours. God bless you for fighting along side us, and good for you for wanting to get us out of there. But I've been there seven times, i have a 2 year old Son and I want this **** delt with now before he is old enough to fight. So if this old war horse can go over there and do what his Commander and Chief tells us to do then, I'm going. Let me ask you this Little drummer boy. Are you going to school on the GI bill? You are aren't you? Hmmmmm you're welcome for that too. As for me 22 years and still a dumb grunt.
PS coffee cost more the 50 cents, so keep it kid you'll need it to have the proctologist help pull your head out of your ***.

hey man thier guns are bigger than ours. can we protest; sure, they have been since his first day in office, people have given up by now. Also some liberals have accepted that we can't step away now without increased violence. If i didn't have to pay taxes i wouldn't but i'd get arrested for tax evasion.

What little fantasy world are you living in? People can and do protest. Please find out what you are talking about before you ask another question and make even more of an idiot of yourself.
