I have a very loud voice- people tell me I'm good. I would like to be able to sing higher without stressing my voice. I have enough power, I just dont know how to use it. Any tips?

A good teacher is invaluable. If you really want to sing, find a classically-trained teacher and take lessons. You should notice small changes immediately a big difference within six months.

Be very careful with a "loud" voice. If you force your voice, you could end up permanently damaging your cords.

Go to the forums at SingersConnect.net and you can ask questions like this to be answered by associates of a famous vocal instructor in nashville, he trained keith urban. they also have a free tips and advice section.

P.S - NEVER EVER listen to classically trained instructors or people with a 4-year degree in voice because most of the teachers are classically trained and their methods are very obsolete!

It is hard to explain to someone how to sing just by writing it down. If music is really your passion, you should try and find a good instructor. That way, your instructor can give you helpful tips based the way you are singing.

when you get into the upper reaches of your range, lose the power...it's way easier to sing higher if you switch into "head voice" in other words, if you get rid of some of the power, and sing a little more quietly, it will be easier to hit higher notes.

First, totally relax the vocal cords, then believe you can do it, and feel yourself doing it, and then...

I don't want to over-simplify it, but just do it!

But what ever you do, don't conciously "think", about it. Go with feelings, let it just flow out of you.

If it is within you're natural octave, and you want to do it bad enough you will.

And of course it will happen on you're own first, rather than around others. Good Luck!

control your breathing;
breath from lower, the lower the better
take better breaths (deep ones, they last longer)
and keep your vowels open, especially at the high notes
you probably do the opposite and close up a little
so do I, but I'm getting better
