How did the ballpoint pen come about?

Who had the ingenuity to realize pens work really well with a little ball at the tip? How does one think of such a contraption?

Two hungarian guys invented the ball point pen... I just saw that the other day on the discovery channel. First was the quill pen, then came the fountain pen, then the ball point pen.
