Well if a habitat is destoryed then the animals will be forced to either adapt in some way or will face extinction and if they die out then it somtimes starts a chain reaction that causes devastating effects. Luckly some species of animals are sucesfull at adapting; Mostly Birds, mammels and Insects.
Most UNsucesfull i'd say are amphibians and fish; when the enviroment goes bad there the first to get effected and die off.

This answer depends on the animal to which you are referring. All animals interact with their environment. Any loss of species makes a permanent change in the surroundings of the remaining species, including humans.

Think about the loss of such a tiny creature as a mosquito. At first glance it sounds wonderful; no more need for bug spray, no bug bites, no itchy spots. But then consider the plight of the bats and the birds that feast nightly on the mosquitoes. Without mosquitoes the bat and bird populations might drop drastically. The bats and bird spread pollen and seeds. If the pollination and scattering of seeds does not happen, even the plant world begins to suffer from the loss of the "pesky" mosquito. This problem could potentially affect the crops humans depend on for food. Quite clearly, if something as small and insignificant as a mosquito can cause a loss of diversity in other plant and animal life, what a disaster it is to lose so many species so quickly.

The animal fails to find food and it dies due to starvation.Like this almost all of the animals are killed, and as they disappear, plants will also start to dissapear. This is becoz the soil wont be much rich,as their wouldnt be any dung to make the soil richer.
