As far as time is concerned; hre in Canada the max. hrs. which can be charged is 3 to 3 1\2 hrs. The min. is 1 hr.Keep in mind that the equipment to perform diagnostics is very specialized and Very expensive. Also it takes a licensed, specialized tech to do it right.

The local Benz dealer charges only $37.50 for a full diagnostic run on my C-Class.
The local Dodge dealer charged $129.00 for the same thing on my old minivan.
Go figure!

i mechanic for a living,,and i usually just charge 35 bucks for this,,i know money is tight these days,and to me that's all i would want to pay if i had it done,,but most shops are going to charge around 50 or more for it,you can use this price as a quote ,it might help you save a few bucks,on the job,,good luck hope this help,s.
