Connecticut now reads the on board OBD II computer (1996 and later) for emissions failures.
My question is...If I clear all the trouble codes just before the test, will they see that the codes have been cleared and still fail me?
Any suggestions.......

bostonianinmo is correct!! I used to be a vehicle state inspector. It DOES NOT matter what you put in your tank. The OBD II test is a data link connector test NOT a sniffer test. When the codes are cleared, the vehicle has to go through a drive cycle to reset the ECM, otherwise the sensors will show a "not ready" status and your vehicle will fail.

^^^ Bad answer above! ^^^

The OBD II test does NOT include a tailpipe test so it doesn't matter what you put in your tank.

Sorry, but there's no way at all to beat that test. If you clear the trouble codes they'll know that you did that and have you come back in about a week. The computer stores data as your vehicle runs and until it gets enough data stored the test will not proceed.

This link is to the MA website on OBD-II emissions testing but the procedures are the same in all states that use it: http://www.vehicletest.state.ma.us/obdqa.html

Changing your oil or putting injector cleaner isn't going to do a thing as far as the test is concerned.

I think maybe if you clear the codes like a half a block from the emissions place and push it halfway from there it might work. I don't hink you're gonna fool your cars ECM. When Florida had emissions they used the magic wand that they stuck in your tailpipe to smell what was coming out of your exhaust.. I fooled it every time, but it just doesn't work on OBD's. I think emissions is a load of crap and a money making scheme. Politicians just can't have enough money. Can you believe this beautiful weather we're having. Thank you global warming.

No they shouldnt, the PC cant tell that. Another thing is to get a complete Oil change right before the test, this will make the emissions run great and the OBD will pass the car even better.

in case you notice what grew to become into going on beforehand of those attempt sequence, T-20 grew to become into freely being performed and it grew to become into an overdose of T-20, which culminated with the ICC W.C. triumph for West Indies. without warning each and every of the communities have started playing tests, so from T-20 overdose to all the worldwide places playing attempt sequence, yet another drastic exchange has taken place. Now to degree attempt cricket's well-being on those grounds, is tough & figures are inflated for particular. human beings understand that an ODI will take approximately 8-9 hours of their time, in line with risk 10 on the main. T-20 takes no better than 4-5 hours, with crack cricket being performed thoroughly, in those 40 overs of each and every sport. for this reason they have their very own following, it quite is watching the upward push. tests are a cricketer's staggering assessments, the place they seem to envision their high quality, no longer the quantity, it quite is engaged in ODI's & T-20. tests separate adult adult males from boys. So high quality against the quantity, skill that tests have constrained no. of followers, who savour the sport in toto. Its hard yet tests are no longer loss of life yet lagging at the back of the two T-20 & ODI's simply by their constrained nature. So real cricketers & its real followers would help save tests alive, continuously.. No, T-20 are not killing tests yet they are infecting babies with instant cricket, which they're going to have self assurance is real cricket sooner or later, which may be unhappy..

If you clear the codes, then unless the code is reset there is no way to tell!

I have taken friend's vehicles to the test and reset the codes while in line. They saw my scanner in the back, but there was not a thing they could do but pass the car!!!

The on-board comp.needs a certin amount of data to read. If you clear the codes just before the test they will plug in and the computer will read "not ready" for any of the monitors that had codes cleared.

I'm not sure what information they are going to be looking for but I know for a fact if you put some of that fuel injector cleaner or similar gas additives in you tank with some premium gasoline you vehicle will run really clean and no bells and whistles should go off when you get tested. I had to sneak a beater thru Ohio's e-check like that and by golly it passed.
Clearing the codes right before you go could not hurt either.
Good luck!
