if I went to a tournament, would a deck of 40 be too small?

If your going to a sealed or a draft then 40 cards is all your allowed. If your going to a constructed tournament then you need a deck between 60 to 300 depending on the format of constructed tournament.

It sounds like you have a Core Set deck. I wouldn't play it in a tournament. You'd get stomped. Anyway...in a Contructed tournament you need at least 60 cards in your deck. In a Sealed Deck or Booster Draft tournament the minimum is 40. You should go to your local card shop and ask for help getting your deck to 60 cards. People will help you because its always good to have new players to play.

no, decks in tournaments can be from 40-75 cards but the only reason anybody would want a 40 card deck is if it relies soley on one combo

yes,40 is not enuff. the lowest number you can have is 60. good luck!
