How long should the battery in my IPOD last before I have to charge it? Seems as though I have to charge it a lot lately

the battery is supposed to last 14 hours.
but...i think theres something wrong w/ my ipod 30gb because i have to charge it alot too, and i know for sure that i don't use it for 14 hours...it lasts more around 6 hours for me...if that
