Yes, there are definitely bitter tastes and spicy tastes. There is a type of paper where if your taste buds are extremely sensitive to a certain taste, you taste it strongly, but if your taste buds to that certain taste is weak, you don't taste anything at all. For example, if your taste buds are sensitive to the sweet taste, you would taste something extremely sweet. However, if you taste buds are not sensitive to the sweet taste, then you would not taste anything at all.
I'm not sure where to get these papers, but I'm sure they're not that expensive.
It's really cool, hope you use it for a class experiment!
