I have an aquarium that is 72 inches long, 18 inches wide and 18 inches deep. I think my aquarium holds 125 gallons but I'm not sure. What is the formula for finding out the volumn so I will know how many gallons it holds?

Multiply the height, length, and width and you will get the volume of the aquarium. The formula for gallons is:

1 cubic inch = .0043 gallons

Multiple the volume of the aquarium in cubic inches times .0043 and you will get the gallons.

18*18*72=23328 cubic inches
23328*.0043=100.31 gallons

First, find the volume in cubic inches:
72*18*18

Then, you need to know the conversion from cubic inches to gallons. There are 8 gallons in a cubic foot, so the answer is
(72*18*18)/(12*12*12) * 8
= 72/12*18/12*18/12*8
= 6*1.5*1.5*8 = 108 gallons

72 x 18 x 18 = 23328 in^2

1 gal = 231 in^3

your tank is about 101 gallons (probably sold as a 100 gallon tank).

assuming it is a perfectly rectangular aquarium...
then use the formula volume = length * width * height
you also need to convert to change units (change gallons to liters and inches to meters.)

length times width times height then convert inches into gallons

just type in online conversion chart in a search engine and plug in the answers along with the units and you should get the answer

volume is length x width x height. you have to find out what one gallon's volume is for a prism first, then see if you can divide that volume into the aquarium's volume.
