I had my daughter 4 weeks ago and I am still bleeding. Not heavy but I still have to wear a pad.
I also have a small odor. Could this be because of my stiches. I dont have any itching or any problems.
Should I move my six week appointment up to make sure everything is okay?
ALSO my husband and I want to have sex but I'm worried about the pain and problems.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the bleeding yet. Women can bleed for up to six weeks after having a baby. As far as the odor goes it could be from all the bleeding and/or it could be from the stitches. I wouldn't worry about moving your six week appointment up unless you are really concerned. When I had my son I bled for six weeks so it is ok to still be bleeding. It is normal for you to be worried about the pain and problems of sex. In my opinion if you still have stitches in you probably should not have sex yet. The first time you have sex after having a baby is hard but it will be ok if you take it really slow for a while. You should do it when you feel comfortable enough and when you are ready to do it. Congratulations on the new baby!!!

If you still have stitches, then you will hurt way too much to have sex. You can try alternative methods instead of full penetration.

My Dr. always said that it was okay to have sex when it didn't hurt. I used this guideline and never had problems. Be careful, if it hurts, you may be damaging something.

The bleeding is normal, so don't freak out. You still have at least another two weeks before it gets weird. You haven't bled for nine months, and it seems like a lot because you are not used to it. It may turn brown before it quits. Odor is normal, unless it smells really bad. Then you should absolutely call your Dr.

Or you could call them anyway, if you really need peace of mind.

I remember I was still bleeding at 4 weeks. I don't think it is abnormal. I wouldn't necessarily move your 6 week appointment up. If you are still bleeding at 6 weeks, then the doc can check on you and tell you if there are problems.

I didn't think you were supposed to have sex until after 6 weeks. I wouldn't recommend it. I woudl think you'd still be sore...and it certainly wouldn't be very enjoyable. Others have though...I know couples with two kids born within the same year!

I would call the Dr office and speak to at least a nurse about the problems you are having and your concerns. Odor usually means something is not necessarily "normal",so I would definatly call the Dr office ASAP if not sooner. I would NOT be worried about having sex with your husband right now,I would be more concerned as should HE about if you are ok or not. Your health is much more IMPORTANT than his worrying about having sex sooner than later. I would DEFINATELY be calling the Dr office,or you can also call ASK A NURSE about your concerns too,or call the hospital where you delivered and ask a nurse in labor and delivery about your questions and concerns they are always available to help answer things for you. In your discharge,a nurse should have explained things to you and given you instructions as to what to do if there were problems after you went home. Good luck and Congrats on the new little Angel hope she is doing well since coming home too.

Oh, God bless you. Sex before your six week appt. You little horn dog. I didn't want to be touched for months after the traumatic experience of giving birth.
I would call your Dr office, even the receptionist may have an answer for you, I am sure she has heard it all before.
Also, I remember an odor, and I think it is normal. You may be right, it is probably the stitches.
Give it a go, it couldn't hurt!!

well you can bleed up to 6 weeks..But I would still go to the doc for a check up just to make sure everything is all right..and to ease your mind. I bleed for 8 weeks but i was OK ... so but still go to the doc to make sure everything is OK.. Smells are normal i had them to and had stitches.. then again. when ever i have my period it has a smell
You should wait to have sex i think it was 6 weeks but that another thing you should ask your doc... It is the doc who should give the all clear... OK
Hope everything works out for you

Sounds like you should call your Dr about the bleeding. But I wouldn't have sex until you get a clean bill of health from the Dr.

the bleeding is normal
I would not change your 5 weeks appointment it is to determine if your body is going back into place correctly.

You should ask you doc about the sex you prob need to wait 2 more weeks

I bled with all 3 of my babies until I was 6 weeks and then got my period right after that. Its normal to still be bleeding.

Don't have sex while you are bleeding. Call you dr tomorrow and ask them about this. They can tell you better than I can.
