How should I go about moving to a new state? How much money should I save? Should I try and get a job before I move? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Funny - you're moving from Florida to New Hampshire and I wish I could move from New Hampshire to Florida. If you're coming soon you better bring warm clothes. It's freezing up here! Save enough money to give you a good cushion on rent and other expenses in case you don't get a job before you get there and it takes a while. One thing I'm sure you'll love about New Hampshire is that everything isn't taxed like it is in Florida and many other states (that's what I hate about going to Florida - I always forget that things are going to cost a little more than usual with tax.)

Email me if you have any other questions about the area or just need a friend in New Hampshire! : )

When my son moved to NYC, he first found a place to live, then he found a job. He didn't have a lot of money saved, but found a job rather quickly and now can afford his rent, food ...etc.

Try Craigslist for someone looking for a roommate. This might help. I'm sure you could find some type of job here.

Everyone is right though...here comes the winter and you'll need warm clothes, boots, hats...mitts. All the stores up here are having their 50% off sale, so not to worry.

Have fun and good luck! NH is really nice no matter what section of the state you head to.

Getting a job first would be easier, of course. And you'll need to save up money for rent, first and last month probably, plus a security deposit possibly. Go to www.craigslist.org and check out what apartments will cost in the specific area you are moving, so you have an idea what rent will cost. Also, try to run a search, and find some local real estate agents. If you don't find a job first, you'll need more money saved up since you won't have income right away. The more you have planned ahead of time, the better. And be prepared for the chilly weather!

Be sure to have a cushion that will cover 6 months' worth of living expenses. This should cover all eventualities.

Look into moving expenses. It may be more feasible to replace some items, rather than carting them the length of the country.

It may not be feasible to get a job in NH while you're in FL depending on your industry and how many on-site interviews are required. Consider doing a lot of the initial recon and legwork while in Florida. Ideally, you'd have interviews set up immediately after arrival.

Contact the local chamber of commerce. They can provide you with a wealth of information.

Brace yourself for the climate change and pack accordingly.

I would try to either save enough money for a few months to cover your living expenses before you get there or try to get a job first. also get some warm clothes. keep all your other clothes too as the weather in newengland is very strange. we have days that are 20 degrees and then a few days later it is 70 degrees. also when choosing a vehicle or if you already have one make sure to get snow tires. we havent gotten snow yet but your going to want them just in case because driving in snow is a lot harder. hats, glove, heater. if tyou are driving make sure you have blankets in the car just in case you break down and it is cold.

To ease the transition, you should have a job and living situation lined up beforehand. You should maybe have someone look at places for u and report back the results. If you have friends or family near here, they would be your best bet to do that. Otherwise I could lend a hand.

Get some warm clothes, believe me, New England is really, really cold right now, even though there hasn't been much snow, if you're not properly equipped for a cold winter, then you could possibly freeze your nose off (not literally though)
