yes, usually they have a cheaper relist fee... If it something that is worth alot you may want to put it on a reserve bid, that way you don't get screwed on the deal and get the money you deserve...

It's definitely possible to sell expensive items on eBay. Adam Ginsberg teaches people how to do this - he got very rich selling billiard tables on eBay. His site is AdamGinsberg.com, but I'm sure you could learn quite a bit about how he and others were successful at this with a little internet searching. EBay forums may be very helpful. It really comes down to how effective your listings are (titles, sales copy etc).
Hope that helps

i just add my comment to what the first two have said about re-listing. and reserve price (this costs money too, that's all)
RE-LISTING
each time an item is put on the auction block there is a time limit. when that time limit is up the item is either sold or not. if not you have to re-list.
and each time you put up an item for auction, it will COST you (Insertion fee. if item is sold, additional final value fee - rate is based on price of item sold). unless you find a free auction site. ebay is a profit making site so it will cost you, regardless the item is sold or not. so the more times you re-list the more it will cost you. so make sure you do your sums first.

Yes, you list a reserve price - if the sale does not meet or exceed the reserve price, then you may re-list it.
