I had a problem with it because none of the videos would actually let me see the hanging part; the suffocating and neck snapping galore.

Damn, that's the best part of an execution!

I wish we still guillotined/hanged people instead of this politically correct, 'humane lethal injection' bullshit. BLAH to that.

Firstly this was orchestrated by the Americans to shut him up. He was in a position to tell the world too many things about them such as the fact that they fully supported him and supplied him with information weapons and technology against Iran. In the court there were two buttons which could be turned on or off depending on what he said and thus his testimony was edited. I am no supporter of such a brutal tyrant and I dont care really that he is dead but the second problem I have is with the way in which he was hanged as evidenced by the mobile phone coverage !

Although I think Sadaam should rot wherever - just somewhere, our country is very much against showing the death, or dead of our own (US citizens) on other world political networks such as Al Jazeera. Anyway, my point is, why so much hypocracy? Watching people die shouldn't be the highlight of our evening...Sadaam was a sick sick man, and it is sad that he was probably brought up in a life that bred a good dictator and murderer. Lets just not be hypocritical as a country - hence the reason (of many) why we are already not respected by many other nations.

I have a problem with the whole trial from beginning to end.
What is the purpose of a trial, justice or revenge?
It was a kangaroo trial put on by US Occupation forces and used more for propaganda than for justice. Now don't go saying it was an Iraqui court, for the first judge had to exccuse himself because he was installed before Iraq had a seated governMENT and was therfore illegal under UN laws of Occupying Forces, the second judge was trained by US in country.
The rules of evidentiary processes was completley left out, evidence was presented in middle of trial with no forewarning to defense, Saddams lawyers were killed, in other words a fiasco just in the trial portion.
Saddam was held under US guards and moved back and forth by US guards, when it was time to hand Saddam over he was hanged in a US military prison by one faction of the civil war, Shias, during what was before hand an illegal time to hang a person due to their constitution we helped draft, religous holidays, the begining of a Sunni at the end of a Shia.
A master stroke of propaganda by releasing films of the abuse , which is by the way not according to either religious sects teachings and well known in advance sure to cause even more vicious sectarian violence.
Waht was Saddam hanged for? Do you know?
It was not for gassing his own people? What year did the crime take place? 1980's before US involvment It took place in a small village in sothern iraq and was done in retaliation for an assaasination attempt upon Saddam by perople of. Saddam went and hanged 140 plus men and boys in retaliation.
In that respect the penalty would fit the crime.
Yet the court records still have nto eneded in the charges , of which there are 8 more to go that happend after US had supplied the chemical munitions to Saddam.
How Convenient!
NOW NO ONE CAN ANSWER FOR THE WHY AND WHERE HE GOT CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS FROM.
As for the treatment of Saddam by the Shias present, for those of you who did view take a lok at the real Leader who tried to stop such abuse.
Would bushys have done any better if we had hanged him?
NO DAMN WAY!
And if you want proof just look at the responces here in answers, thousands of them wishing even more cruel atrocitys upon his body by nice clean cut american boys and girls.
We would of probably had a pointed plastic bag upon his head, eletrodes attached to his privates, a female spreading her monthly blood flow all over him, Gi's male and female trying to make him masturbate and a female Private leading him like a dog to mount upon a pile of fellow arab prisoners.
That the people who hanged Sadam acted like animals in eyes of world cannot be denied but in almost all cases of hanging, "THE REAL HANGMAN ALWAYS WEARS A HOOD SO NO ONE CAN RECOGNIZE HIM!

The only valid point people have is that they should not have taunted him. But really - he was going to die by hanging. Did they really owe it to him to be respectful to the man who killed so many Iraqi's? Did Sadam let the Kurds finish their prayers to "Allah" before he spread nerve agent on the houses full of kids and women?

It was grim when Saddam's tongue was hanging out just before he died. I don't think I need protecting from the reality of what happened though.

I want to watch it, I want to actually see the guy die and not just listen to what the media say but sadly I'm very prone to nightmares so I can't for my own sake!

I had no problem with the manner in which he was killed. It was more humane than some of the stuff he did to his own people in Iraq.

I had a problem with it.

It was grainy, the camera was all over the place, and you couldn't see everything very well.
