Thank you for all of the ideas...

Someone mentioned friends...oh dont even get me started about them.

They are sooo unsupportive. Whenever I try tot alk to them about this kind of stuff, they laugh at me and make it worse. They are like "you could never do that." And that makes me feel worse about myself...

I think ill be able to lose the weight, but its really hard to get over the loss of self esteem from your friends and your peers.

It sounds like you may come from a family with a natural predisposition to be a little over-weight. You can't fight genetics but you can drop down to a healthier weight level appropriate for your age and height. Only a family physician can give you a proper evaluation so start there.

I'll give you a few strange scenarios:

My friend's college boyfriend was this guy who immediately shed about 40 lbs 'cuz he'd go jogging from 6-7pm every other day. It totally worked and he's got rock-hard calf muscles now (he had a spare tire that vanished in one month).

My other friend was this guy whose father's side of the family had mental problems. Him and his sister both dramatically inflate and deflate like crazy. This also affects their acne terribly. Whatever this mood disorder is, he used to take medication for and he'll gain nearly 30lbs in 2 WEEKS and drop it like it's nothing. We lived together for a while and he's Asian so I know he eats a healthy seafood and vegetable rich diet. He's been off meds for years now and at 29yr old, 5'8" he weighs 145lbs.

Now, me and my old friend from high school, we were the same weight at 12 (about 79lbs.)and when we turned 13, she began her menstrual cycle and about a week later, her thighs, hips, belly and boobs BLEW OUT of proportion. In the matter of a week. I tell you, I never even knew these things were possible until I saw it with my own eyes. Her mom is huge, her dad was slim.

My other friend was morbidly obese while her two sisters who were a yr. or two older were natural skinny beauties. Her mom was slightly big around the waist as her dad, so I have no idea how she became like that. Hormones are cruel.

Life is cruel. I guess you gotta deal with whatever hand you're dealt with. When I was in highschool we had a teacher in our health class had us write down on this photocopy chart a list of everything we consumed everyday for a week. We brought it in the following week and we were all horrified and disgusted at all the garbage we ate: several soda, combos, snickers bars, burgers, porkchops, hotdogs, lasagna, rice all the time (we were Latinas), potatochips, it goes on and on. No one in our group ate breakfast. We all barely ate lunch and ate waaaay too much starch! So every week we began eating slightly better until the end of the semester when some of us actually turned vegetarian. Not easy to do when you come from a family who is used to traditional Spanish cooking.

Which brings me to my guy friend who came straight from PuertoRico. His family was all morbidly obese like himself. This guy used to fry cheese and kept the oil in a can underneath the sink for reuse (can't reuse frying oil it's carcinogenic!). Well he moved to an area of Brooklyn where the subway was 6 blocks away on an incline, so he was forced to walk this every day, back & forth. That guy shrank in less than 7 months to about a third of what he was. I seriously thought he had an eating disorder before he told me about his move!

Just do what's right for you. Do the obvious like avoid junk food and walk more. And get your mom to take you to the doctor, get her involved in your concerns. Support makes this transition a lot smoother.

I know exactly how you feel. I was the fat sister, and the youngest. Being chunky is alright, make sure you eat healthy and normal proportions. Don't go for seconds at dinner. If your friends aren't supportive, then whatever, they are immature. Your brother is just being a brother, though.
I know it is hard, but drink a lot of water, and try to eat 4 or 5 small meals a day, instead of 3 larger ones. NOT eating will make your body think that you are going through a famine and actually store all fat that enters your body, so don't do that! If you live in a fairly warm area, run/walk a mile every day till you can actually run the mile without stopping.
You won't see immediate results, so don't think that you will. You will shed a few pounds, but you will gain a bit more health, which is more important then your weight.
Good luck, sweetie, and I am pullin for ya!

I understand your frustration, I've gone through chunky phases in growing up, and definitely in the beginning of college. Here's what i've noticed. I don't have a fast metabolism, as do many people who wern't skinny growing up. People constantly say diet or excersise. Well one problem, is that you have to do both. I most definitely don't suggest the strict strict diets that limit you to a couple things, but just eating healthier helps so much (fast food is bad). the problem if you don't change your diet but you do excercise, you get healthier, but you're not going to get lighter or smaller. What happens is that you build muscle under the fat. That's the biggest misconception with crunches. At the same time, eating healthy without working out, obviously isn't going to work either. You're just starting high school which means you'll spend A Lot of time studying and sitting in class rooms, especially in college, so it's soo important to stay active. But don't forget to eat right! (doing both, i've found, it's really the only way )= ..... ) good luck

run daily, and diet. dont drink soda or eat candy. no trans fat and avoid saturated fat, no high frutcose corn syurp. I am a health concious person, and i follow these steps every day. plus swimming is a great work out--better than running, so dotn worry about your bikkini. get 30-60 (60 preferably) minutes of work out a day. DONT eat fast food AT ALL. before you eat a meal eat a veggies frist--light dressing or sauce--if any. doing theis will fill you so your not as hungry when you get the fatty foods. dont eat for the 3 hours before you go to bed. with this plan you should be ok soon, find a buddy to support you, adn good luck!!!! :]

As a personal trainer, kinesiologist, and a fitness consultant, I have to tell you to go to your doctor first. There are little things that you can do that won't be dangerous, But over all, because of your age you have to talk to your doctor before making a weight loss regiment.

But in the mean time, cut out snacking, drink PLENTY of water, and walk when you can rather then take the elevator say.

Good luck

Also, dont tell other women that you are on a diet. Women are vicious and will do anything to make you quit. If in doubt tell them you are not feeling well when they tempt you with a Hersheys.
