The very best product ever is called Sanivac. This stuff is a miracle. It will take out every stain there is. Make sure you use the one that is for toilets, because there is also one that is a universal type cleaner that I use in the shower, etc. The universal one works really good with thick soap build up. You spray it on, leave it for about 15 minutes and you don't even have to use a cloth to clean it off, just spray some water on it, and it comes off by itself. Same thing with the toilet bowl. Squirt it on, leave it for about 10-15 minutes and when you get back, the stains are gone. Just flush the toilet! Good luck!

How to Clean Toilet Rust Step 1VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA METHOD: Mix vinegar and baking soda in a non-plastic bowl (or other non-plastic container)with enough baking soda to make a VERY thick paste. Be careful, it fizzes, so don't fill the bowl to the top. Step 2Using the sponge-side of the sponge, apply the paste directly to the stain (if the stain is below the water level, you may add the mixture directly to the toilet bowl water). Allow the mixture to sit for at least 15 minutes, then scrub with the scrubber-side of the sponge. The stain should lift easily. If it does not, proceed to the next method. Step 3DENTURE CLEANER TABLET METHOD: If your stain is above the water level, wet the edge of one denture tablet and scrub the tablet directly on the stain. If the stain is below water level, drop 2 tablets directly into the bowl. Allow to sit for the amount of time recommended for dentures on the box. Scrub with a toilet brush or scrub side of dry sponge. Step 4OXY MIRACLE FOAM METHOD: In a container, mix miracle foam powder with water to make a VERY thick paste. Apply in the same manner as the vinegar and baking soda method. Leave for at least 20 minutes. Scrub stain in the same way. Step 5After any and/or all of these methods, flush the toilet to finish the process. Step 6Smile! You've finally gotten rid of that ugly stain!

There is a good product called CLR that works really well on lime and rust stains. There is also a homemade remedy that says to mix equal parts of white vinegar and bleach that is supposed to take the rust out of toilets and bathtubs but I have never personally tried it so I am not sure if it works.

A pumice stone works great at cleaning toilet bowls. It will take off all the discolorations. Find it in the cleaning isle at the grocery store.

try cleaning your bowl more often than once every 6 months. Otherwise, try those lime products or get industrial degreaser. I've also found bleach works on anything. Happy flushing!
