I have a Jeep Liberty 2002 automatic. All of a sudden (one stop light to the next) the engine doesn't catch around 20-25 mph. When I put it in park and then back in drive the car kind of thumps into first gear. Once I get to 20-25 mph it just revs and never catches. Any ideas? Let's say I'm a car moron so be gentle.

On alot of transmissions these days with computer controls etc. if there is a problem INSIDE the transmission ( bad seal, worn parts ) the computer puts the transmission into " Limp-In-Mode" so...that you can get your vehicle off the road an to a repair facility.

Nothing but take it in to the dealer. The Jeep liberty is a funky car with a lot of benz tech in it.
