the basketball court is 46 ft wide and 84 ft long.the court has a border of 10 ft wide.the cost of hardwood floor is 9.00$ per square foot.how much will it cost to put a new floor on both the court and its border?

So with borders on both sides, you're saying that it's 66 x 104.
Just multiply to get square feet and then multiply by 9 to get the cost.

so you have 46 ft wide + 2* the 10ft border = 66 ft wide
84 ft + 2* 10ft border = 104 ft long

66*104= area of the court *9 = cost

$61776

draw it and look at it and it should make sense

(46+10+10) x (84+10+10) x $9 =

66 ft (46 ft + 20 ft border[10 ft on each side]) x 104 ft (84 ft + 20 ft border[10 ft on each side]) = 6864 sq. ft.

6864 sq. ft. x $9 per sq. ft. = $61,776
