I made the mistake of playing Barry Manilow for my 2 and a half year old today and now I can't get freaking Copa Cabana out of my head.....
Jesus, Joseph and Mary...I'm about to go crazy.
How do I stop the singing?!
Wine and pills haven't helped....her name was Lola...she was a showgirl...with yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there.....argggghhhhhhh!

Turn down the mental volume of the song until it is sung in a whisper.
Think about a song that you do like, and one that you enjoy singing. Anytime the annoying song pops into your head, start singing or humming the better song.
Concentrate your thoughts on something else. Try a riddle, mental math, or reciting a poem.
Get involved in physical exercise.
Shout in your head.
Go someplace no one will hear and shout out loud. If such a place is unavailable, just talk to someone.
Sing or play the song through in its entirety. Usually when your brain hears the end of the song, it completes the repetition and is able to release the song that had been stuck.
Something else you could do is become addicted to another tune, one whose lyrics you don't mind hearing over and over again. A good example is 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life' (by Monty Python).

Barry...what have you done? Sing Britney spears-toxic instead, the song will be in your head for ages but at least it's not that annoying. If that fails smack that by Akon and Eminem has got to be the catchiest song of the year, you will sing it for days...just don't play it to your little one.
