Moisture in the air inside the car hitting a very cold windshield. You weren't breathing or anything were you?

When the window is dry, wipe it down with white vinegar. Frost forms from too much moisture or interior humidity hitting the cold glass. Crack a window open at night or when parking to allow inside humidity to escape and equalize with outside air. Run the defrost cycle of the heater, with a/c on if it is a separate control, to dry the incoming air and also use the fresh air option rather than recirculate. Outside air is drier than interior air with human breath and snow/moisture on the floor.

There's a good chance that your windshield needs to be removed and resealed because there is moisture getting in there somewhere. Had to have this done recently on one of my cars.
