I have anti-virus protection from Panda Titanium 2005. For about a year now, my e-machines computer shows a Windows error message at startup. Up until a few weeks ago, a different error message appeared at startup alongside the Window's message for about a year also until it somehow disappeared.
My computer works fine and it doesn't have any junk and also has lots of free space.
The problem, also, is that while I am typing something (or maybe even surfing the web) like in a chat or on MS Word or even on a regular website, the computer has a small freeze (that doesn't affect it's performance) that takes me away from what I am doing. For example, the tab at the bottom of my screen is no longer highlighted to show me what my current program is--it goes back to the lighter shade (which can also be seen at the very top of a page--where it says the name of the website or file).
Do I have a virus? What is wrong with my computer? Should I get it checked? If yes, what for?
Thanks!

The error message sounds like the result of a removed spyware/adware program shortcut that's still there. I'd suggest running hijackthis and removing everything you don't know.
Everything that shows up on Hijackthis can be removed safely 95% of the time.
If you need more help, feel free to reply/IM/contact me.

Sadly, maybe not. E Machines are easily slowed down. Everyone I know who has one has gotten rid of it or stopped using it. A friend of mine's grandmother got one because she was over there a lot. The processor slowed after only about two months and nothing was saved on the computer.

You very well might.
If you have a virus checking program installed on your computer, make sure it is ON all the time!! If you have more than one virus checkin program installed on your computer, make sure ONLY one is working at a time. If more than one is active at the same time the one will "see the other as a virus" and start doing virus-like things.
If you need a program, download AVG.com FREE version!! I use it and it hasnt failed me yet. Not all are completely 100% fool-proof.

emachines arent that reliable so may just be something with your pc.
anyway to check out what could be the problem
get windows up todate (if you havent been doing so)
get your anti-virus up to date and run a full scan
or try this online if you dont have one
www.housecall.trendmicro.com
after alls clean
get adaware se personal
its free
www.lavasoft.com
get update, reboot and do a full scan
if all thats clean than it most likely will be a program or pc problem
missing file, program acting up etc...

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
download firefox for free, Just have a try:

You have corrupted files more than a virus..
do this, it may fix the problem
Start -> Run and type in
sfc /scannow
That will restore the orginal setting fo the pc (systems files, dll files, won't hurt your pc)
Good luck!
