It's varies from the game to game. Games like the New Orleans bowl, Papajohns bowl, Las Vegas bowl and other bowl games that are played earlier and that are generally considered among the minor bowls payout less. So schools in bowls like these will not recieve as much for participation.
Now, at the next level with bowls such as the Sun bowl, Peach bowl, and other bowls generally played later in December and are considered bigger payout more. schools that go to bowls in this level will recieve more.
The last step is the BCS bowls. Schools in these bowls get paid the most because these are the most watched bowls as well as the most important.

It depends on how big the bowl is. For example teams going to the Rose Bowl will make more money than a team going to the Meineke Car Care Bowl.
