Personally I don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal either. I agree he was sick and a creep. He got off easy because he deserved way more then he got. I think people should think more about the people that he killed and tortured rather then his hanging itself. There are far greater issues in the world to worry about then the hanging of a monstrous man.

Despite what people might think, Saddam still had many followers in Iraq. By hanging Saddam during Eid and filming the taunts and the abuse he took by the Shiites it can do only one thing and that is anger and hurt the Sunni's. Sunni's in Iraq are a minority and they will retaliate. The Dominant Shiites will suppress them and other Muslim countries will step in. Saudi Arabia has already committed themselves to the Sunni's in Iraq. What they should have done is hang him and about 6 months later say..."oh by the way, We hung Saddam". Now the divisions in Iraq are wider then they ever were. What bothers me is that our American troops are right in the middle of it. Hanging Saddam only makes civil war in Iraq more of a reality.

The issue is not the hanging, per se, it is the video of the hanging, which was taken without authorization, and shows the guards taunting and spitting on Saddam, which is a violation of his rights.
When you are a nation based on a rule of laws, you must follow them.
The release of the video has angered portions of the Muslim world, people we can ill-afford to further anger.

I ask a different question but its about the same thing.
I don't why, but I don't want to see the video, because no human deserves to die like that. We are just going down to his level and they should of put him in hard labor.

It would seem that they have FAR too much time on their hands.
