Next year( 2008) will be the Year Of The Rat and the year after (2009) is the Ox.
The order of animals is the order that they visited Buddah when he got all the animals together and only 12 showed up, so to thank them he gave them a year each. The rat turned up first, then the ox, and so on... (pretty cool story I thought)

to be specifically, from Jan 01, 2009 to Jan 25, 2009 is still the year of rat, and from Jan 26, 2009 to Feb 13, 2010 is the year of ox according to chinese calendar
