It's simply a marketing game that has been around for decades. Prices always seem to end in "99" which is a mental trick to get you to think it's less than the next whole dollar amount.

This is a tactic stores use to make their products appear cheaper. Rather than posting the price at say $5.00, they put it at $4.99. When you look at it it starts with a four rather than a five. It works when you say it too - 'four ninety nine' as opposed to five dollars. That makes it seems cheaper.

its called marketing. 99 cents is less than a dollar. JUst like anything a car for instance they price it at $19,995. so your brain thinks you are paying $19K form it when it is really $20k.

Because the sociology works and you think its cheaper because technically it is. If it didn't work they wouldn't do it.

Would you rather see $19.99 or $20.01 , its only a few cents.

people think they are getting a deal,like that car only costs $2995
why not just say 3 grand ,I agree with you 100%.
