I went snowboarding for only my second time without my insturctor with a whole lot of my guy friends on monday and they took me up to the top of a black dimond and just left me. So I was going down and i biffed it bad and landed right on my chest. It hurts to breath, and i got the hecupps so it hurts really really bad. It hurts to talk to move the slitest bit and to walk hurts too. How can I tell if I broke my ribs?

About the only way you can tell for sure is to get an x-ray.
Could be broken, but just a bruised muscle could give those symptoms also. If you choose to not get an x-ray, at least take it easy for a few days. Bayer Back and Body pain reliever might help you with the pain.

Ok i jused answerd a question on concussions. Im an injury bok full of information and experiences.Ive cracked my ribs during lacrosse season and i had the same symptoms besides the hicups. Happened to me about 2 times and ive gone to a doctor. So if i where u id go to the hospital and get an xray or mri. Youll be fine unless you punctured a lung or broke a rib off but that probably dident happen. Hope you get better and get well soon!!

Do it the same way your doctor will do it:

poke your ribs gently in every spot you can reach
if you find one area of the rib where it is extra ouchie (particularly if you feel the crunching of bone moving against bone) that is probably a rib fracture

It is common to find a big patch which hurts - this is probably a bruise. These can hurt just like the rib fractures and they will hurt if you take a deep breath too (just like the rib fractures).

Take some pain relief (paracetamol/acetaminophen or ibuprofen if you are not allergic)

I really think you should see your doctor or go to the ER. You may have punctured a lung or bruised some internal organs. Good luck.
