i missed a few seconds around the time of the crash, but i've got a cut & sore spot (no bump ) on the back of my head & a long scrape & bruise on the side of my face across my temple... from what i can guess the retractable cargo cover for the back of the wagon came forward & the end got me pretty good. iwas totally confused for a couple minutes, but passed a sobriety test when the cops came. i'm all sorts of bruised up & sore, especially my neck & shoulders, but i don't know if it's all from the crash or from the fact that i had to walk 10+ miles to get home afterwards. anyone got any experience with this sort of thing?

Yep, There is a good chance you have whiplash. I can't believe you have to walk home that far or that they let you for that matter.

You probably do not have a concussion or the oxygen requirement for your body during the long walk would have caused you to have symptoms you would have noticed.

The whiplash on the other hand will take some time to set in and being physically active as you were, while not a good thing, would delay the on set of serious symptoms as your body was probably producing hydenolin to get you though the accident and the walk home.

You need to have it looked at. It may be mild and just require some muscle relaxers and rest, but serious long term complications can occur if it was more than just a mild case. Better safe than sorry.

I fyou have a hard time turning your head without turning your whole body, it's probably whiplash. If you have a headache, with sleepiness, dizziness, nausea and/or vomiting, it's probably a concussion. I had an accident when I was about 20, and had painful whiplash. Felt like my whole neck was sprained (which is what whiplash is). Why did you walk home??? Didn't the cops or the tow driver offer you a ride? Should have at least had an ambulance check you out... Ususally your car insurance will cover medical expenses from a wreck, if you don't have health coverage.

I've had whiplash. I couldn't pick my head up from a reclined position without actually using my hands to help move my head. The muscles in my neck were useless, sore, strained.

As far as a concussion, that will need a medical diagnosis. In fact, for insurance purposes, you should be seen by a doctor ASAP.

Some injuries take awhile to present themselves. Back problems will not always be immediately evident. Some issues become more and more inflamed over time.

Only when I'm daydreaming honey, but geez its pretty sad that you had to walk 10 miles to get home, what happened when the police left ...couldn't they help? Did you mention that you are confused by a bang to your head to the police. and where is your vehicle . nobody could assist you. You are darn luck you didn't drop dead half way home. I would get it checked, I'm not familier with the diff with concussion or whiplash but I've experience many concussions and I've haven't had any confusion for more than a minute. I believe a whiplash could be a result from a pulled muscle. but I'm no doctor.
good luck
peace

I was rear-ended a few weeks ago and had slight whiplash. My doctor said that whiplash symptoms can be vomitting, headache, neck and shoulder soreness, dizziness, blurry vision, etc. My only symptom was that my face hurt. It felt like a REALLY bad sinus infection or something and I had a horrible headache and jaw pain. He said those were common symptoms too. You should see a doctor ASAP. I think you are supposed to go within 72 hours for insurance purposes.

I dont really know about concussion, but when i got whiplash, it was the worst pain in my neck. i couldnt move my head at all, and had to turn my whole body whenever i was looking in a different direction. i still get a lot of pain and stiffness in my neck, and it has been 3 years.

7 years ago I've been involved in a car wreck and even since suffered with severe on and off facial and jaw pain. I've tried almost everything western medicine had to offer and had visited countless of specialist, had done ct scans, and therapies but to no avail. The doctors I have been to had persisted that there wasn't anything wrong with me and that almost drove me crazy as I was going through hell from this condition. According to all my symptoms I was diagnosed by a holistic doctor as having TMJ and he had recommended this book to me. After following the recommendation in the book for several weeks, it had changed my life. I got immediate relief after following the unique set of exercises in the book and after 2 weeks the jaw and face pain had completely gone. I only wish I would have ordered this program years ago. It would have saved me a lot of pain and anguish.
