2 answers

(r^2 - s^2) / (4r^2 + rs - 5s^2)

Factor

[(r - s) (r + s)] / [(r - s) (4r + 5s)]

Now, we can cancel in the numerator and denominator the common factor of (r - s), leaving us with

(r + s) / (4r + 5s)

Which doesn't reduce any further.

Factor numerator and denominator
(r+s)(r-s) / (4r+5s )(r -s)
cancel the (r-s) terms leaving:
(r+s) / (4r+5s)
