Tough guess. Federer might have been invincible throughout 2006 (i'm a big fan), but we cant turn down any possibility that Nadal has been keen in drawing out more power out of the hard courts. Throughout last year I realised his court speed has been increasing up til the US Open. In time he will be accustomed to the difference in surface and give a challenge to Federer. James Blake is also an icon to watch. But i give a 70% chance that Federer will once again reign supreme on the hard court.
For the womans, its a battle between Amelie Mauresmo, Justin Henin and Maria Sharapova. Hingis might have been hittin some good tennis last season, but i would not think show might be able to really outshine the top 5 players at the moment. But Hingis will surely reach at least the Quarterfinals. I would fancy Justin Henin winning the Australian Open, if her injuries does not hold her back.

in the men's it would be once again roger federer (*yawns... boring) semis: nadal, roddick and davydenko. baghdatis might still make it to the quarters. blake isn't really a contender
in the women's it would be justine henin-hardenne. sharapova wouldn't really be that great in the australian open because of the surface (rebound ace). sharapova isn't that remarkable in slower courts. mauresmo, hingis and kuznetsova and henin-hardenne. the four of these girls would compose the semis.
