going to buy one "good" handbag...?

Question

hi, I've been saving to buy one really nice handbag soon. I've been reading all the magazines, but i'm having trouble deciding what kind. I do this about once every 2 years and already have the tradtional Vuitton and Gucci ones. I just want opinions on what you think is cute and trendy, but will remain a classic in brown tan, black, navy, etc. I want a mid sized bag for about 750-1000$. thanks for opinions and happy New Year!!

I'm curently working at a very nice high end clothing store and we have the most AMAZING new brand of bags! They're so beautiful and are the new hot thing but in short suply. If you can get your hands on one I'd highly recomend it. They're called Lockheart and are made by some of the big designers from Isabella Fiore (sp?). and other small boutiques.

I think slouchy, leather bags are great right now.

I myself have some Louis, Gucci, and Dior monograms, but I just bought a big, white, leather Kooba ($450). It's not flashy, by any means, but it screams luxury and looks rich. You can tell just by looking at it that it is made of high quality materials (leather and hardware) and is sturdy. I also have a Balenciaga motorcycle bag from last year that I love. Every time I take it out I get tons of compliments on it. I know they have updated versions, plus Balenciaga makes great bags in general. Another great brand is Bulga. If you ever read Life and Style or In Touch they usually have a page each week devoted to great bags. That's where I found my Kooba. And I've seen many Bulgas and Balenciagas. I think you can get a midsized Balenciaga for around $1000-1100. If you like more obscure, trendy-under-the-radar bags that not everyone else in the world has, I'd definitely go with Kooba or Bulga. Wow, were I you, I would spring for a Chanel (how elegant is that and talk about timeless?) but another suggestion would to be to go to Off Saks. This is the outlet store for Saks fifth Avenue and they have the most gorgeous handbags for a little off (maybe just enough to purchas matching shoes?) This affords you the luxury of "I picked it up Saks" as well as enough extra to purchas two or start saving up for next time. If you are dead set on purchasing one at normal price, check out

(classic, beautiful, and simple with the added bonus of brand name)
- Brooks Brothers
(stylish, but classic and country club are always "in")
- Marc Jacobs
(cute and original, not quite as timeless but some of his designs are more versitile than others)
- Tocca
(very nice and 100% worth your money, also good designs with a bit of a modern spin)
- Luella
(incredibly [!!!] stylish and the beige 'stevie' bag is adorable and sounds like what you're looking for)
- Ferragamo
(casual, but gorgeous leather and great colors *relaxed vibe*)

Got a Coach yet? They just came out with the Carly collection on Dec. 26. Theres a really nice black leather handbag that in the collection that ive been eyeing up. I even went to the store to get a closer look, and yes, i want it. Check it out if you like.

If you have $750 - $1000 to spend on 1 handbag, I will not be able to offer any advice!! I only wish that I could have a "REAL" Louis Vuitton bag! I am completely jealous of your situation! :)

I would say either a Balenciaga or Marc Jacobs. I like the Kate Spade bags too. Or a really nice Chanel.

That is totally rediculous to buy a handbag every 2 years for almost 10 thousand dollars. I would go to old navy. They have wonderful handbags for a great price.

Try Coach. They are a little less than what is in your price range but they are good quality and very cute. You could go onto their website or find a Coach Store near you.

I would alos go with Dooney and Bourke (my fav) or Coach. They are a bit cheaper and with your price range you could probably get two. However, they are both very good quality bags. Also Cole Hann or Kenneth Cole is good.
