It's J.K. Rowling. People are hooked on her Harry Potter books.

I would have to say Stephen King. He has had a very large fan base for many years. He's been around a long time and has written more books that have been made into movies than the Harry Potter series. He also has had time to invest his money and save his money. Most people would probably think J.K Rowling because Harry Potter is so hot right now, but King was making money way before anyone ever thought of the name Harry Potter.

Unless Stephen King has had a gambling problem or a drinking/drug problem or another problem that wastes money then J.K. Rowling might be beating him out. If not, then King, most definately.

We are fans of men who have business savvy. You can read his biography for an exhaustive list of accomplishments. What we want to point out is 3 numbers: his earnings for the last 3 years. According to Forbes, they are $44 million for 2000, $65 million for 1999, and $40 million for 1998. Wonder how he makes so much money? He gets 50% of the profits on his books. Stephen King's net worth is over $200 million.

JK Rowling is the wealthiest of the two. She is actually a billionaire in the US (not in the UK, where there is a different value to a 'billion'). She is luckier though because her books appeal to a far wider age range and she has royalties coming in from the films and merchandise.

stephen king wrote more books, all of witch became movies.
but they were all horror.
j.k rowling has made books that are more family oriented, books that people of all age groups like.

i'd say it is a pretty close race but Stephen King has been around longer and had more time to collect royalties, cameo appearances in movies, plus he has probably made some investments, etc... so yeah, I'll go with Stephen King.
