He was a horrible president. I was going to college at the time, and my tuition more than doubled. The college lost 18% of its students, and another 23% went part time.

His trickle down economics busted the self-employed businessman and the farmer. I hope he is rotting.

And I think the best president of all time was Lincoln.

Whoa! Easy on the cap locks there.

I think a lot of answerers are young and have not really got a firm grasp of US history. I see these questions a lot and I see Regan, Clinton and Bush as main answers and even though there is something to like about all three, I don't put any of them as top of all the presidents. So they answer Bush because he is in now, Clinton because he was the last Democrat, Regan because he turned the Republicans Conservative with the Regan Revolution and he was at the helm when Russia fell.

Regan did do some good in office as did Clinton, partisanship has a way of distorting what happens. Heh, I remember the Regan as the devil and Pope John Paul was the anti-christ speel, they weren't taken serious back then. Besides, every president is called the anti-christ, even Clinton was.

Ronald Reagan restored the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression thanks to our Socialist buddy, Carter. He advocated a sense of optimism that was needed in this country. He was harsh on his enemies but displayed extreme diplomacy with Gorbachev and in correlation with him dissolved Communism in Europe. He was intolerable of bullshit. Why do you think the hostages were released from the Iranian embassy the day that he was inaugurated? When he was shot he was humorous not whiny and woeful. Whoever said he was a horrible President should be shot in the head and dragged throught the Sahara.

He made a lot of controversial decisions that I didn't agree with but he was certainly a much much better president than Bush.

A big part of Bush's problem is that he is trying to be a "strong" and "decisive" leader in the style of Reagan but he is a ******** moron who is making poor decisions in an much much more complicated world than Reagan lived in. We need a SMART president now, not a cowboy.

Some of us lived through the Reagan years and saw first hand the great accomplishments of his presidency. There has never been a president who did so much for his country and the world! And never, at least since FDR has there been a patriotic feeling quite as strong as we experienced under the Reagan Administration. You shouldn't judge Ronald reagan if you weren't here!

Ronald Reagan saved this country from economic problems and ended the cold war. You cant really say one president is better because each president had his own problems, while he was in office. Even though there are some presidents that are better than other ones in general. I think that you should actually look him up on the internet and see what he did. Of course liberals are gonna call him the devil because they like the government to take care of them. Ronald Reagan said something to the effect "less government is better government" And I agree with him 100%.

Like any President, Reagan and FDR had their good points and bad.

I think both should be held in high regard, because both did admirable things during their Presidencies. Certainly FDR was faced with greater crisis, and performed well. If the title of best President of the 20th century were to be awarded, I would give it to FDR.

I think Reagan would come in 3rd. He inherited bad economic times and a country whose morale was very low. He restored our optimism and his economic policies restored our economy to greatness. Though very controversial, his opposition of Communism and the way he did it was eventually vindicated by the downfall of the Soviet Union and communism through much of the world.

I think Ronald Reagan was a very charismatic man. He had an uncanny ability to "relate" to the general public and was a very "believeable" person. He also came across as kind of aloof and disconnected on an intellectual level. He appeared to be somewhat less intelligent. This could not be any further from the truth. Ronald Reagan was a very, very smart man and had advisors around him that were equally as smart. His appearing as kind of goofy was a great cover for him to be able to get a lot done during his presidency.

Bottom line, he was much wiser than given credit for - hence, a terrific president.

He brought down the USSR, without firing a gun. He used a military buildup and the SDI to make the USSR think we were ahead of them , and theyu basically went broke trying to keep up. He institutued the STAR Act, strategic arms reduction act, which eliminated thousands of nuclear warheads in the US and USSR. He rebuilt or military into a formidable force and brought dignity back to the unifor, along with bringing military pays into line with civilian pay structures, which meant higher retention rates and less cost to the tax payers in training and equiping new recruits.
I could name a million other things that he did to earn the respect of the people, but I don't have time.

I would not say R.R. was the best President, but he did do a lot in the world affairs and for the U.S. Armed Forces.I believe his biggest legacy will be the downfall of the Soviet Empire which fell as a result of Reagan's military spending which could not be matched by the U.S.S.R.
