I have tried several times to be friends with gay men. I am a married woman, happily so. The men I have found have been married to women before, and one has 4 kids! How do I find a nice gay man just to chat with?

Gay men are people like everyone else. They have complicated family ties and personal issues. Many woman do the mistake to think a gay man could be their best friend, since he "reasons like a man without being sexually attracted to me." But sexual attraction, or lack therof, won't neccessarily mean he will make a good friend. Look for a nice gay man the way you look for a nice female friend, and don't expect him to be uncomplicated. After all, we're all humans.

Why do you need this friendship? What are you seeking? A Gay man is not a substitute for a heterosexual friendship.
With a straight male there is a risk of sexual attraction... Just what do you want?
Perhaps an older straight male, who can act as a mentor/father figure might work, but your question is too open to answer well..

You are probably just not looking in the right places, I'm a gay guy, and I only have girl friends. I would rather talk to them then most men!

Maybe the gay men you are meeting are more interested in meeting other gay men rather than a married woman (happily married or not...they aren't interested in you!).

Maybe you're meeting the wrong type of gay man..Maybe you need to be friends with a married gay man(at least in Canada) or a long term partner in the US.

Why is it limited to gay men ? Maybe they sense that from you .. that you are only willing to be friends with men if they are gay. They probably don't care to be singled out like that. It might feel as though you are making use of them .. or using them for that reason alone. Good Luck ! :)

Sometimes Lesbians and Gay men are like Oil and Vinegar! I don't know why, but I just don't seem to have any Lesbian friends! I think it's kind of like we are totally different species or something!
