How old are you? It could easily be either one, since the symptoms sound so much alike. More likely, though, the drs are just covering all possible causes, even though it may just be migraine. Stuff like this can take forever to diagnose correctly because they are so hard to see. Let them treat you for both, to make sure that if it is mini-strokes, you don't have long-term brain injury. I never have experienced either, but I've had life-long mental health issues; my psychiatrists (which are, in a way, specialized neurologists) have all said that the brain is such a difficult organ to treat because you never know what's wrong with it except for by the way the rest of your body reacts when it's not healthy. It's not like they can just cut it open and figure it out, like when you have a heart attack, or gallstones... Make an appointment with a neurologist at the regional medical college hospital, and get checked out by them. Every time you go to an ER you'll see a different set of drs, and they will have to start all over again trying to diagnose you. You'll never get any regular therapy that way...

I had been going through this for 6 months and finally got help. I was told it could be MS and then migraines and then sinuses (I had two sinus surgeries and the headaches came back!). Finally I went to a great neurologist and he said it was both physical and mental stress. I was put on medication for stress and then given botox. I was afraid of the botox at first but it was a miracle treatment! I have not had a headache since (knock on wood). I also had tingling in my hands/legs but it went away. Dr. said it could have been from the stress. (Like adrenaline rush from the pain of the headache). He asked me these questions. Are you headaches always there or are they worse or better at any time? (Mine were all the time). Does lying down help or any medicine? (nothing helped me). Where do you live? Maybe I could recommend a doctor to see. Are you seeing a neurologist? Board certified?

I don't know about these symptoms specifically, but I know stress and worrying can do really strange things and bring symptoms on...in other words your mind can trick you into thinking something is wrong and even causing real physical symptoms...just a thought.

I also think you are doing the right thing by going to see a doctor, and sometimes it takes them a few tries to figure things out, and sometimes they never do. The body is complex and while there are a lot of things they can fix, there are plenty all of them are clueless about.

Hope you feel better soon...some things you could do to help you relax..take a long bath, take a walk, do some mild exercise.

If it pesists go to a bigger city hospital that specializes in such things.

Go to a different ER. There must be a better hospital that you know of where you live. If you are in NYC go to MT. Sinai . Allot of the time ER's don't want to take the time to properly explore whats going on with you unless you are showing them you are really sick. If you have to go back there, I suggest that you don't leave until you are satisfied with the results of your treatment. You can also speak to the attending Doctor if you have too.God Luck and i hope that you feel better and find out what's going on with you.

I have had migraines since before I was 5 years old and I have never experienced the pain in my hands prior to the onset of them. It sounds like you may need to see a specialist.
