No.

I find it very disturbing that it would even be an issue in the United States.

Note: The Koran is NOT "a book by terrorists."
Consider that if you were to become an Iraqi citizen and be elected to an office - would you swear in on the Koran or the Bible?

The Quran was not written by terrorists. And not all those who regard the Quran as their Holy Book are terrorists. That is part of the issue that is fueling the issues we are currently facing.

An anology could be that all those who regard the Bible as their Holy Book are missionaries or all those who regard the Torah as their Holy Book are rich. I think that everyone with some level of IQ that allows them to walk upright would say that both of these are false. Why is it so easy for people to say that followers of a religion( that if you study it is really not all that unlike christianity) that is not ours are all bad?

Did you happen to notice that the Quran that he will be using was once owned by Thomas Jefferson? Our founding fathers were more tolerant of religious choice than we are now. Perhaps because they had personally felt the pressure of religious persecuction.

The Koran is not a "book by terrorists".

REAL Christians practice love and tolerance. Some of you need to give that some serious thought and invest some time in educating yourself about what Islam actually is. There a lot of misinformation out there.

Read about the Crusades while you're at it.

I don't believe that Osama Bin Laden wrote the Koran, but I could be wrong...Not too may centuries ago, much of the world considered the Catholic Church to be terrorists (see the Crusades). The Koran has as much validity and metaphor as the christian bible. Remember, it isnt the book that is bad. Its the people who take it too seriously.

While I am not happy about it I am wondering if it is any different that being sworn in on the bible while we all know that there are terrorist who believe in the bible. What about McFee(sic) or other far right terrorist who have blown up Americans.

What I am trying to say is that not all believers in the Muslim faith are terrorist just like not all believers in the Christian faith are not terrorists.

Another thing is that this country believes in freedom of religion, so if we are going to believe that, than there will be other occasions where other books of faith will be used in place of the bible.

I find it disturbing that people in this country (founded by those who wanted to practice religion or freedom from religion, without sanction) care that a man chooses to get sworn in by the book of his faith. The bible is full of horrible things too, but do we cry in horror when Congressmen are sworn in on it?

Some people in this country would have given Thomas Jefferson absolute hell for being who he was, and it seems that you are one of them.

What a stupid question.

The guy is Islamic, it's just his religion. Would it make you angry if he were denouncing Christianity and calling the Bible a book written by a bunch of demonic Jews that followed a moron through the desert?
