I live in South Africa and have heard a lot about the school. It's only for 150 girls because she interviewed every student herself to ensure that the selected students were most deserving of the Leadership Academy. The school doubles as a house so the number of students can't be too great.

Whenever you hear about the "net worth" of an individual, it's extremely misleading.

"Net worth" has nothing to do with how much money you have, it's determined like this:

total value of all assets - total debt = net worth

Oprah runs a magazine ("O" magazine), a production studio (I think it's called "Harpo" after a character in one of her movies) and she has her show and production staff to take care of.

All told, her assets will likely include a very large value in land, buildings, equipment and intangibles (such as her trade names, the equivalent of a magazine masthead and trademarks).

When she (and her management staff) decide to fund something, they can only afford a portion of income, a portion of actual cash, or a funding that puts more debt on her books. These three things may only amount to 5-10% of her assets in total (more if she wanted to risk some leveraging).

So the answer to your question might actually be "no" when you consider that she took all those kids shopping for clothes, shoes and school supplies and they have many other projects, like "Oprah's favorite things" that drain their revenues, not to mention the costs of transporting her entire production staff to Africa with her.

Of course she could, but when she elects to build another one, she'll get the "attention and glory" she so desperatly needs all over again...why couldn't she build one in the States? Because there are too many kids of different races who would benefit from that as well, and she prefers to help her own race.....it's a good thing she is doing, but the racial agenda is very obvious....

she will do what she needs along with her funds, she earned it. and she or he will say what she needs, it is purely her opinion. That being suggested, I agree along with her. frequently, individuals tend to think of that we would desire to have issues surpassed to us. What makes this so humorous is that a maximum appropriate to an training IS surpassed to us on a silver platter. training in the U. S. is unfastened from pre-okay to 12 grade in each and every state. Yeah, yeah yeah... some colleges get extra constructive investment than others. investment of faculties is a difficulty yet no longer one Oprah can restoration (she does not have that lots funds/impact). bill Gates is attempting to enhance our gadget to make us extra globally aggressive (being the richest guy alive would desire to help open doorways). yet undesirable investment won't be an excuse for no longer gaining information of. My mom grew up in segregated Alabama. She her college books have been 2d hand and had the word "colored" stamped in them because of the fact at that factor blacks weren't allowed to pass to white colleges or get books from white libraries. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, she grew to become into nonetheless granted a "classic" training including gaining information of the thank you to talk German. Even segregation did no longer supply up her from going to college, paying interest in college, doing the assignments, or information that an training grew to become right into a powerful to every physique (regardless of, race, financial/social status). we don't even have this problem anymore and yet young ones (from all races) look to think of training is a comedian tale. Charity purely works if the recipient is keen to settle for it. the youngsters in South Africa are keen, we don't seems to be. Oprah would retire from her instruct yet she does not strike me because of the fact the style to purely relax and sit down back. i've got self assurance that if she retires, she will probable do extra charity artwork than now. style of like Jimmy Carter and Habitat for arts. no count the place she lives (and she or he has residences everywhere) she would be nonetheless assisting little ones.

Of course she could, however as much as she seems giving on her talkshow, I believe she is just as selfish as anyone else and rather spend most of her cash on herself.
