I think that is horrible. Why not just be a parent and monitor where your kids are yourself? Sorry but I don't think that is right at all.

No way!
I do think that parents have a right, and responsibility to know their children's whereabouts, but I don't think "implant" technology is the way to go. Trust me, this type of thing is just going to get us into trouble. We really do need less "big brother". I'm old. Old enough that I've seen our rights as US citizens and privacy starting to dwindle away and it only gets worse each year.
There is a type of device I find interesting and useful. They have a monitor that you can place (as a necklace or bracelet) on elderly, Alzheimer patients who tend to wander. In my city, we've had more than a few people like this who wandered away from home only to starve to death or be hit by cars. I think technology like this could help Alzheimer's patients, but again, this is something that is not "implanted" and can be removed at any time by the family and is only monitored by the family.
I think I've read in the past that there is a similar type device in a wristband watch that you can get for your children. I'd think this is a way better device than anything you'd "implant" in your child.
Sorry to be so wordy. My main concern over things like this is that other people, not just those who love the person, would be monitoring the said person, and that just scares me!

Read some more on the subject and I bet you'll find yourself saying no way. If you can monitor your children don't you think the bad guys will be able to monitor and identify them as well? Read the book called Spychips about all of the plans major corporations and the government have for RFID.. This is not freaky conspiracy, the authors quote at length from the patent filings of many major corporations. You can check out the website http://www.spychips.com/
Remember, these are your children not cattle.

I won't, but I think think generation that is being born now will be the first to embrace this type implant technology when they grow older. When kids are talking to mom and dad on a cell phone at the age of 2, their perspective of technology will most likely be seen as a tool and not a security risk. I don't think you will see mass adoption with RFID pitched as a human tracking device, but rather an Identity device that can double as a secure means of executing monetary transactions. Terrorism and credit card fraud will probably be leading factors in making this push. I don't support this idea personally, but I think its just a matter of time before it is pushed by some governments or companies, but in my opinion this won't happen until this younger generation rises to power.

i think of it incredibly is a huge concept. If the baby is ever abducted or lost GPS can hone in on the real area. in this present day in age we've the technologies so why no longer use it? I certainly would do this if I had young ones. Microchips in pets have been used for years. i'm particular a sprint chip under the exterior would be completely super. the only exception being a metallic hypersensitive reaction of a few style. different than that, the advantages outweigh the risks.

I too have thought long and hard about the use of modern technology on our children. I have mixed emotions but as the parent of three now grown children, I can recall a time when I used to worry about abduction etc. I always relied on my good judgement as a parent to reassure myself that i wasn't deliberatly putting my kids at risk, but then we can't we with them 24/7 can we.
Everytime I heard about another child missing I would think about the use of tracking devices etc, that could possibly find them before there where either abused or had been murdered, by some sick person in our society. So if I had to do it over again, and i knew that it was not going to cause them any degree of long term harm... I think that I would go for it. I have only had one occasion that my girls left school with someone they should have, they thought they where well meaning as I had been late to pick them up. I still get sick feeling about those couple of hours that they where unaccounted for. I really drilled it home with the school and all care providers that under no circumstances did anyone do anything that was not previously agreed on. Yeah I quess i freaked out on a few people, but let me say it never happened again. They are all grown and I still worry about them. Kandy

I don't have children but I wouldn't do it because the bible says one day the world will be so hi-tech that there will be this mark or micro chip that holds your Identity. you can pay with this chip you'll have to have one, everyone will someday and the bible says that His children, meaning God's followers, are to be without the chip because It is the marking of the beast or 666. If want more info Read Revelations in the bible either New international version or The message version or talk to any pastor of a christian church and they can give you information on the chip of the future! I say out of all that don't do it trust in God that your children will not get lost.

It couldn't be used to monitor them unless there were receivers all over the city. It is the same chip that is used in pets. You can only find the pet if someone physically scans them.
You can already get cell phones that allow you to track your children.

Lady...It's the mark of the beast (the anti-christ). Don't fall for it. Though the idea is great (an ideal solution to kidnapping and the like), from a religious perspective - it's your one way ticket to hell.
Read Revelations (the last book of the Bible). It will scare the hell out of you - and yes, you'll need a lot of guidance when attempting to understand it.

It's not about an invasion of privacy for a 2 year old. I think the major application would be for safety from predators.
What I would prefer to see is a chip that could be put in an article of clothing or shoe. Something that is not noticable and you could move it to different clothing items or jewelry. I would definitely be interested in having that for my children--if it was not too expensive.
