I am having a baby boy in March and was trying to come up with some nice "easy listening" type songs to download and burn to a CD. So far, I've only thought of a couple...Songbird (Kenny G) and Time In A Bottle (Jim Croce). That type of song...soft, something that has a sweet, warm feel to it. Of course, that's all opinion...

Anyone got any ideas? I'm blank! Serious answers only please.

Probably wasn't detailed enough on my idea...although nursery rhymes are an obvious, I'm thinking more like the idea with Kenny G, Kenny Loggins, etc...

"I Will Take You Home" by the Grateful Dead. Very soothing the lyrics are about a father promising to take care of his little girl. The message is sweet and universal for any parent. It originally appeared on the album "Built To Last", but the live version from "Dozin' At The Knick" is also wonderful.

"Lenny" , "Little Wing" and "Rivera Paradise" by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble are all beautiful instrumental pieces very mellow, although you might want to modulate the volume on "Little Wing" so it doesn't keep your baby awake. Look for all three on "The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble" collection.

Other artists to consider: Carol King, Fleetwood Mac, The Alan Parsons Project, The Beatles (also their solo stuff).

You might also want to consider some classical pieces by Beethoven or Morzart.

"Beautiful Boy" by John Lennon
"Return to Pooh Corner" by Kenny Loggins
"St. Judy's Comet" by Paul Simon

Actually, the whole Return to Pooh Corner CD is amazing for soothing babies and getting them to sleep.
You will appreciate this quality pretty soon, I can almost guarantee it.

Anne Murray! She's mellow and reassuring.

I'd also consider Mazzy Star... perhaps The Church.

I'm a big fan of bossa nova music, it's nice and calm, but still has a nice beat... Astrud Gilberto, people like that.

Normally a baby will like its mothers voice better than any others. No song is necessary than humming music a little louder
