why do we celebrate the new years with fireworks?

Fireworks are used for celebration whether its the forth of july or a grand opening or a concert...

I don't know anyone who does. The Chinese maybe, but fireworks here are on the Fourth of July.

Gee..fireworks...that would probably be a whole lot safer than all the gun shooting that they do in Detroit on New Year's Eve!

I don't know when the tradition dates back to but, in any case, it is a way of making noise and showing our excitement jst as in any other party.
