Here is a link giving you access to the Rules of Professional Conduct for solicitors. Their position is rather different from that of doctors for obvious reasons, so you will not find anything there relating to physical contact. However, if a female client complains that a solicitor has acted improperly towards her, then the solicitor in question may well find himself facing disciplinary proceedings. http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:1os_r7CDVZIJ:www.nz-lawsoc.org.nz/about/profcon.htm+solicitor+code+of+ethics&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=8

There is an unofficial code of ethics but if you dealt with me in my business (I am not a solicitor) you would get the some unofficial code - which in truth is little more than common business courtesy.

Moreover, if a solicitor even suspects that you are money laundering or defrauding the tax man then they have a legal right to report this.

There are codes of ethics for every public profession. Solicitors have to guard their professional relationships as doctors do, they have to keep confidence and respect their clients even when they disagree with them.

Yes there is.

If they met away from work and didn`t realise that they were on the patients/clients list (and want a relationship) then they have to change to another Doctor/Solicitor..

Yes try the Law society web page

There is conflict of interests to be checked before accepting work from a new client.

Regardless of where you are, there will always be a code of ethical behavior for solicitors/lawyers like any other profession.

don't tell your solicitor anything that could be detrimental to your defence, as they are obliged to pass on the information of anything that you've done that's illegal. or refuse to take on your case.
