how do i get the health department involved? i live in illinois, the place is awful, i have friends that work there, the place is horribly run, and the franchise ownership turns a blind eye to health concerns as long as they make a profit. what can I do?

Call the health dept. and dare them to check out the place. Show up in person at the office. Call it in, Tell them you got sick.

You just pick up the phone and call the health department. If they give you the run around, call again, and again. Ask for a supervisor or drop by and complain like crazy. Locally a TV station gives the health department ratings for the different restaurants and it has become a big deal. So many got so many many violations. One of my favorite places got busted for re-serving the Pico de Gallo and chips. Not wanting to eat after strangers, I've never gone back. Ugh! How nasty can you get?

Threaten them with the Health Department and MAYBE they'll straighten up. If not, get in touch with the Health Department (without notifying the restaurant) and the Health Inspector will take care of the situation accordingly.

(You may have to fib a bit to get the Health Inspector's attention though)
