i think so. people are too irresponsible and there is no need for it so it doesn't matter. also i think that the people that get struck by cars or kids that get abused by their parents because of alcohol matter more than the choice of some useless liquid that deteriorates your health.

that was tried, it was called Prohibition. It was repealed, because it didn't work. Too bad really, life would be better with out that stuff.

I'm sure we'd do pretty well without it in some cases.
However, I like brandy too much.. not in an alcoholic way, it just tastes nice! And it would be unfair to ban it because the majority of people drink responsibly. Getting rid of it wont fix the problem but maybe a bit of education about it would.

Putting a ban on anything people want flat out does not work; this has been proven time and time again. What bothers me is not the abuse of substances , there are laws to deal with that ,but the idea that if "it's bad for you, let's make it illegal to do or possess." Sky-diving, scuba diving, boxing, football, hockey; all are inherently dangerous sports. Should they be banned for that reason? Driving is inherently dangerous; does that mean automobiles should be banned? This country was founded on the principles of individual freedom and minimal government inerference. I believe it should be kept that way, otherwise we would be living in a police state.

No actually I think the drinking age should be lowered. If you compare us to other countries who have no drinking age or a very young drinking age (ex:14) problems with alcohol are very slim. Not to mention that the government finds 18 year olds responsible enough to vote and die for their country, but not drink a beer.

They did that and it did not stop the consumption of Alcohol.
REMEMBER Prohibition!!!!
BOOTLEGGERS!
MOONSHINERS!
THE MOB!
People would just drink illegally and the results would still be the same.
I do not drink.
I do not smoke
I do not swear.
I hope I am not a MINORITY!

Your heart is in the right place though and on that I gave you thumbs up and 100% agreement.

If it was illegal it would just cost more and people would still buy it and beat on their kids. It's sad, but making it illegal would actually make the problem worse. Ever heard of cocaine?

When you think about it, Alcohol is poison. We are actually poisoning ourselves.
It should probably be illegal, but we live in a "Free" country.
I have never done any drugs, but it has always been funny to me that alcohol is sold, but people can't sell other drugs. (Only because it can not be taxed.)
Anyhow, it should be banned, but it won't ever happen...politicians love to drink, and they would never vote it out!

No. However, there do need to be stricter laws against alcohol and drug related crimes. It's not the alcohol that is out of hand. It's the people who abuse it.
