Most likely anything she was able to take while prego.
But,I would call her PCP and ask....some doctors say one thing while others say another. And their recommendations change frequently.New tests and studies may show that whatever was ok to take 2 years ago has now been deemed unsafe because of whatever reason.lol So, that is a very hard question to answer.
Most doctors give the mother a list of medications that are ok to take while pregnant or breast feeding.
Again, you may want to call her doctor and ask for that list or go ahead and bring her and baby to the doctor and get the doc to prescribe something for them.
i was told to take creamultion cre-a-multion ( can't spell it)
when i was in that position...but that was over 2 years ago.So again, just call her doctor.

Probably just some Benadryl. That's all the Dr. would let me take when I was breast-feeding, and some Tylenol for the pain. Call your baby's pediatrician to find out for sure. It's good for her to keep breast-feeding during illness. Her body is producing antibodies to whatever she and the baby will have and they will pass on to your baby through the breast milk.

Lets see....anything like Sudafed or a brand that says it will 'dry you up' can be disadvantageous for breastfeeding...it can deplete milk supply! Thomas Hale has a website (well, a huge book as well) that lists medications that can pass into the milk supply and ranks them from dangerous to no big deal. Also, you can give a quick call to a La Leche League Leader in your area and ask if they have had any experiences with cold medicines.

I just had a cold and i took Zicam. It is just zink and since our bodies already have zinc it is completely safe to take. It doesn't cure a cold per say, but it decreases the severaty of the cold and reduces the length. You can go to Zicam.com and print out a coupon if needed. Good luck!

I am 38 weeks pregnant, and just got over a really bad cold. I was told by my doctor that almost any of the Tylenol products are ok to take while pregnant. I took Tylenol Cold. It worked wonders. I am sure if you can take it being pregnant...it's ok to take while breastfeeding, too. Tell her that I hope she feels better...baby, too.

Same stuff that doesn't work when you are pregnant. It sucks but its true. She can go to the pharmacy and talk with the pharmacist and they can tell her if something she wants to take is safe. I didn't find anything that worked. Good luck. I hope they feel better soon.

hi-she should be able to take the same ones she took while pregnant if she needed any then--but definately double check with the doctor--some things may not be good for her now & only her doctor will know.
