I know we have freedom of religion, but in your view, what does this mean for our country?

This is not intended to be a racist question as some of you percieve, I just belive it's an honest question.

Well, let's see. He's a convert and is swearing in on a Qu'ran that is printed in English, which means that he's probably wishy washy about his religion anyway. So nobody has anything to fear accept for those found in his near vicinity, since Islamist militants strike other muslims who they disagree with more than anybody else.

A positive step towards tolerance..and perhaps the fact that our government may at some time reflect our population.....people sometime forget that the United States of America was founded on the basis of freedom of religion...and that the founding fathers were keenly aware of the fact that the reason why people came to America was to flee religious persecution of other countries....

Study history. Study what happens in Muslim countries. Study the religion itself. Then see what you think. Unless you are a Muslim, I doubt you'll like what you learn. Consider women in the religion. Women might like it even less.

It means democracy at its finest, it means that they represent a constituency and was voted into office by a majority of the voters in that district. God bless America and its diversity.

It means that he's a man who has proven himself to the majority of the voters in his district (the district here in MN where I live in fact...) as an individual who we think would do the best job to uphold what we value when he's sworn in. Best of luck to him!

it means that we now have a muslim politician.

there are many politicians who are other religions. i don't see a problem with this one at all.

if he were a wiccan or satanist, i'd have to think about that when it was time

Like any other politician, if he doesn't do his job the his constituants want it done, they can and should vote him out of office.

It means that a lot of people will have to change their biased atttiudes and enlighten their minds and hearts. I don't think it's physically painful; so there's nothing for you to worry about.

Is it freedom of religion or freedom from religion?A true Muslim See's no difference between Religious and Governmental laws.They would force religion on all of us.

His religion will have nothing to do with how I feel he does his job in office.
