how do you simplify x^2 with something like 3x?

i know that the answer is x=10, but i cannot figure out how to get there

So that'll be: x^2-3x-70=0
2. Factor
(x-10)(x+7)
3. Then you set both sides equal to 0
x-10=0 x+7=0
4. Solve for x
x=10 x=-7
