Question: 3x=x^2-70
1. Move the 3x to the other side
So that'll be: x^2-3x-70=0
2. Factor
(x-10)(x+7)
3. Then you set both sides equal to 0
x-10=0 x+7=0
4. Solve for x
x=10 x=-7

move it all to one side
x^2-3x-70=0
you can factor this together by working out the numbers which add to fgive -3 and multiply to give -70
these numbers are -10 and 7
(x-10)(x+7)=0
so either x-10=0 so x=10, or x+7=0 so x=-7

get all x's to one side.

3x=x^2-70
0=x^2-3x-70
factor
0=(x+7)(x-10)

x= 10 or -7
