Listen to your parents, they want what's best for you.
Be careful chatting with people on-line.

A friend is a person who you have known a long time, who you trust, who shares mutual interests, and with whom you enjoy doing things. This description presupposes that you've met him in person and done a variety of usual social activities that aren't online.

If this is someone you "met" online (and I put that in quotes because you have not really met anyone until you've met them in person) then you are dealing with a total stranger, not a friend. Your parents are right to be conservative. It is the rare teenager who doesn't meet enough people in person, through school and activities, to have an active social life. If you honestly feel you're one of those and you can only meet your true peers by branching out, then have a serious conversation with your parents: the problem would deserve consideration, but there are still better ways than online.

Meeting potential romantic partners online is risky, an activity for adults with significant dating and relationship experience, and caution enough to take care to protect themselves.

I have two teenagers, a boy and a girl, and neither of them may meet new friends online, they may only use online to socialize with their existing friends. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it is simply not possible to "like a guy A LOT" whom you haven't met outside of online chat. I am sure that you think you do, and have strong feelings, but they do not relate to the guy, they have been triggered based on your own biological desires. Falling in love online is very like falling in love with a character from a movie or book, all the more compelling because that character can converse with you. But it is still just as false.

You are playing with fire, and I beg you to stop. Your family loves you and would be devastated to see you hurt. If you can't talk with one of them about this, please try an approachable teacher or school counselor.
