Capitalism is the best economic system known to man. It works because if fundamentally respects human freedom. Everything is voluntary in capitalism.
It also rewards those who work hard, educate themselves, and figure out new and better ways to provide new and better products and services to the rest of us.
Capitalism is not utopia. It certainly isn't perfect. People who don't like it will always trot out Enron and such. That's why instances like that are called "crimes." Capitalism does have excesses, that sometimes need to be curbed by government regulation.
Right you are Ken trots out the recent Home Depot news, and he's right. Still, that sort of thing is an isolated incident. If it happened all the time, it would never make the paper, now would it? Of course, we don't hear about all the people that Bill Gates has made richer. We don't hear about all the millionaire employees at Microsoft, all the stockholders and pensioners who made a ton of money from MS, nor the multitude of businesses and people made more productive.
The benefits received from capitalism so far outweigh the bad, that it's unfathomable to switch to a different system, none of which have ever achieved anywhere near the positive results of capitalism.
I'm a registered libertarian, but lean heavily to Republican.

It's the only economic system that will ever work. Under Communism, everybody is guaranteed a job and all jobs pay the same, so nobody works and nothing is produced. Everybody starves and dies off.
Under Capitalism, people have to work hard to get money, so they do and the best end up getting rich and their kids are born into wealth. Everything we enjoy, the plentiful supply of food, the computers, the TVs, the video games, electricity, was invented under Capitalism. In the Bible, it says "Thou shalt not covet." That's very good advice that Communists in particular need to follow. Don't begrudge anybody else their wealth. Do something to create your own wealth.

I don't belong to any political party. Some of my views are conservative, some are socialist.
I don't beleive Capitalism makes anyone happy except the rich. It makes the rich richer the poor poorer and everyone very greedy.

Sorry, I don't divulge my political alignment due to the fact that one doesn't exist. I never could figure out how people can fit themselves into such a narrow label.
As far as Capitalism, I've lived here all my life and have no desire for it to change. Works well for me.

I think the CEO of Home Depot just screwed his shareholders. He just got a two hundred million golden parachute after he was booted. Six years one hundred fifty million in salary, average three million a year in bonuses and that doesn't count his stock options. He left with the stock price lower than when he took over. I think capitalism is great and unions are killing our country. One man almost four hundred million in six years for a lousy performance, yeah, it's great.

I think it is a cruel unnessecary economic system that is totally poverty dependant, - so in essence requires you to stigmatise large sections of society and to rationalise and ignore all the poverty and all the people it is failing - to get the whole thing to work - and it has not one single ounce of morality to it.
We can do a lot better.

I like freedom. And Capitalism is the ONLY way to have freedom.
Since I love freedom, you would naturally know that I'm a Republican.
